Nintendo has always been a guy thing, right? Not necessarily. The tides they are a turnin.’ Today’s game systems come equipped with all sorts of girl-friendly titles, featuring characters like Hannah Montana and Alex Russo, and now the Jonas Brothers are set to appear in Nintendo DS form as well.
GamersHell is reporting that the rumors of a JoBros video game have been confirmed. According to the article, the game will follow the format of the televsion show, featuring the brothers as their fictional TV likenesses as they “try to find a balance between their rockstar world and ordinary lives.”
Choose between Kevin, Joe and Nick, ane explore familiar locations such as the firehouse and school. Their friends Macy and Stella are also featured in the game, which is being released by Disney Interactive Studios.
Now if they could just incorporate the brothers into the next Street Fighter game, that would be something…

Disney has been leading the push for a Blu-Ray takeover in the home movie market. Last month the company made history by releasing its popular ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ as a Blu-Ray set with a DVD copy, offering no DVD-only alternatives. Now the folks at Disney are taking it one step further and trying to encourage Blu-Ray sales by quite simply offering cheaper Blu-Rays.
AfterDawn reports that Disney, Pixar and Amazon are teaming up to offer some popular titles at some very reasonable prices. Fans can now purchase Disney Pixar’s ‘Up’ in a 4-disc Blu-Ray set for only $19.99 (this includes a DVD and digital copy) through Amazon.com, down signicantly from the original MSRP of $45. Additionally, ‘Monsters Inc’ can now be purchased for only $23, down from the $41 MSRP.
Disney and Pixar are also offering an extra $10 off if you purchase another Blu-Ray from a selection of Disney and Pixar films.

Disney.com has released a brand new iPhone app, with enough unique content to keep even a hyperactive alien like Stitch busy for hours on end: games, image editor, music player, trivia generator, video player, laser gun, ouija board and jet pack functionality (I may be lying about the last couple…you’ll have to download the app and find out).
So now, as they say, the sky’s the limit for all you Disney fans out there (or…the ones who have an iPhone anyway). With the new app (available at the Apple App store, and “app” stands for “application” and not “Apple” which is confusing), which is just called Disney.com, you can have all the power of Jafar but with only half the cruelty! And are you ready for the best part? Disney is giving this crazy thing away for free! So log onto iTunes, download your copy of Disney.com, and kiss your social life goodbye.
And if you don’t have an iPhone, demand that your parents buy you one right this minute. I’m dead serious. Scream, kick, cry, whatever it takes…

Apologies to fans of the XBox 360, Playstation 3, Pong, and all those other platforms that the kids are so wild about these days (except the Nintendo Wii). It looks as though the highly-anticipated “Epic Mickey” game will only be available on the Wii.
The game’s designer, Warren Spector, spoke with Official Nintendo Magazine and made it very clear that Epic Mickey would be a Wii-only experience. Originally the game was intended to be multi-platform, but after a series of high-level talks in the virtual reality chamber (which is where video game execs break bread, I presume), the game’s one-system fate was decided.
“They walked away from three other platforms,” Spector told the magazine. “No other publisher on the planet would have done that. It was a magic moment for me. No-one has even mentioned other formats since that point.”
For those unfamiliar with the game, Epic Mickey is described as “a ’surrealistically bizarre’ look at Disney characters and locations in a steampunk environment.” Basically, Mickey fights Disney mutants in a post-apocaylptic universe (think Steamboat Willie meets Bladerunner). The game is set to be released in 2010, as long as the real apocalypse hasn’t consumed us by that time.
And apologies once again to XBox fanatics.

Happy Halloween (almost!)!
Does your daughter, sister or husband (we’re not here to judge) dream of being Princess Tiana for Halloween? According to AJC, the newest Disney Princess is a very popular item on this devilish Halloween season. For those of you saying “Who’s Princess Tiana?” please do me a favor and bite me. She is, of course, the principal character and principal princess in Disney’s new animated feature “The Princess and the Frog” (in theaters December). She’s also the first African American princess to join the Disney Princess Sorority, which is pretty awesome (and no, Nala from the Lion King doesn’t count, genius).
So apparently, Princess Tiana Halloween costumes are selling out like crazy. Parents are scouring stores searching for the costumes, often to no avail. Disney admits that they didn’t expect the rush, especially since the film hasn’t even been released yet, but don’t be surprised if you’re trick-or-treating tomorrow night and you see a thousand little Tiana’s skipping from house to house.
And here’s a thought: perhaps black is the new Batman. For the first time ever, you may see over a hundred thousand white people dressed as Barack Obama, Princess Tiana and Michael Jackson. We have truly come a long way as a society.

…not really, but close enough. There has been a lot of buzz lately about Disney’s new Keychest technology. What it basically hopes to do is change the way people watch movies. Rather than selling you a physical disc with a movie on it, this technology sells “licenses” like computer programs that authorize an owner to watch their favorite Disney features on the device of their choosing.
According to Variety:
With DVD sales declining and Blu-rays still trying to find a mass audience, studios are constantly searching for The Next Big Thing. The Mouse House thinks it may be Keychest, a system that will offer consumers access to movies anywhere, anytime.
You heard it: anytime, anywhere. So basically, you’ll be able to watch The Lion King on your television, your computer, your iPod, your mobile phone, your clock radio, your microwave or your Etch-a-Sketch.

Disney has officially announced (brace yourself) that the popular Baby Einstein DVD series, while brimming with cuteness and fun, will not turn your drooling baby into a genius. The company is even offering full refunds for the DVDs, along with a voucher for a free parenting book entitled “Goofy’s Guide to Raisin’ Young ‘uns.”
Disney’s decision came after a long, bitter lawsuit from the Campaign for a Commerical-Free Childhood. But there is good news: the Baby Einstein DVDs will remain in stores. The company is no longer marketing them as a learning tool for children, but rather for the kind of genius parents who actually believe that they can educate a 6-month old fetus by parking him in front of a television screen.

Next time you’re at Disneyland, be sure to pick up a mouse-ear hat, a stuffed Stitch doll and maybe an engagement ring for the one you love.
The Frisky reports that Disney has now unveiled their own line of wedding and engagement rings, all modeled after Disney princesses such as Belle, Jasmine, Ariel, Snow White and others. With this much selection, you can pick out a ring that fits your loved one’s personality. If she loves the sea, get her the Ariel ring; if her mother is an evil shrew, get her the Cinderella ring; if she talks to genies and flies around on magic carpets…well that’s probably a red flag of some sort. Just don’t get her the Beauty and the Beast ring unless you’re trying to say, “Thanks for loving me even though I’m hideous.”
And at a generous $6000, one of these gorgeous rings can be yours for about the price of four Disney Blu-Ray discs.

No, it’s not a deleted scene from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” nor is it “True Hollywood Story: Snow White.” Pictured above is a new advertisement from Jamieson’s Raspberry Ale, featuring a cast of animated characters who (completely by coincidence) closely resemble some classic Disney icons. Snow White couldn’t be reached for comment, but we’re pretty sure she’s less than flattered by her promiscuous “Ho White” counterpart.
The dwarves were given names like Filthy, Smarmy and Randy, and the whole purpose of the campaign, according to Sky News Online, is to “convince Australian drinkers that the fruit-flavoured beer was ‘anything but sweet.’”
Word on the street is that Disney is not at all happy with the campaign, because although imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, there are apparently lines that one can cross (see above photo for “the line”). The Foundry (creators of the campaign) claims to have spoken with Disney on the matter, and all of their links to the campaign have reportedly been disabled.
So it looks like either Disney laid the smack down, or Snow White demanded her private tapes back.
