Disney has officially announced (brace yourself) that the popular Baby Einstein DVD series, while brimming with cuteness and fun, will not turn your drooling baby into a genius. The company is even offering full refunds for the DVDs, along with a voucher for a free parenting book entitled “Goofy’s Guide to Raisin’ Young ‘uns.”
Disney’s decision came after a long, bitter lawsuit from the Campaign for a Commerical-Free Childhood. But there is good news: the Baby Einstein DVDs will remain in stores. The company is no longer marketing them as a learning tool for children, but rather for the kind of genius parents who actually believe that they can educate a 6-month old fetus by parking him in front of a television screen.
