Jonas Brothers fans rejoice! ABC News reports that Disney is renewing the popular tween sitcom ‘Jonas’ for a second season. The show, which portrays brothers Kevin, Joe and Nick as fictionalized versions of themselves, has proved to be a hit among key demographics and will return in 2010.
Production will likely begin in February with new episodes airing in the months that follow. Season 2 will follow the brothers as they embark on a summer vacation in Los Angeles and find themselves landing gigs in show business.
“These guys are the superstars of their generation,” said Gary Marsh, Disney Channels Worldwide entertainment president. “We had the opportunity to extend our relationship with them, which we did.”
In addition to ‘Jonas,’ the Disney Channel has also renewed the band’s short-form reality show ‘Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream’ for a second season. Filming has already begun for a premier in early 2010.
Disney has hired two new executive producers for the sitcom, to replace Michael Curtis and Roger S.H. Schulman. The second season will be executive produced by Lester Lewis (The Office) and director Paul Hoen, who has shot nine Disney Channel films.

Having trouble differentiating your Nicks from your Joes? I know I’ve had that problem…well fortunately, we have Chelsea Staub to the rescue. As costar on the brothers’ popular Disney Channel sitcom “Jonas,” Chelsea spends a lot of time with the boys and knows them about as you well as you wish you could. So how does she tell them apart?
Chelsea described the brothers to Girl2Watch:
Nick is the youngest. He is 17, and he’s definitely the brains behind the band. He’s the little brother, but he’s in charge of it all and he writes pretty much all of the music. He definitely has “it”, whatever “it” is, Nick’s got it. He plays drums and keyboard and guitar and writes and does all of it well. So he’s definitely the musical one in that family.
Joe is the middle brother. And he’s just the entertainer. He’s a goofball on and off set. He’s constantly pulling pranks and getting us into trouble and he’s great when he’s on stage. He really sells it.
Kevin is the oldest. He should be a salesman. He’s really easy to talk to, always dresses to the nines, and is definitely the manager of the band. He keeps everybody in check.
Okay, I was WAY off. I thought the oldest was Alvin.
